Wolford Wood is nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds just outside Moreton-in-Marsh (GL56 0PE). Whether you’re arriving by car, train, bus, cycle or on foot, we offer a range of ways to reach us — and we strongly encourage car-free travel as part of our commitment to sustainable tourism (in partnership with Good Journey).

Directions: 

From the A44, turn off at the Four Shire Stone, towards Great Wolford. You’ll immediately pass a large house on the left, then a little further on you’ll see a Cotswold stone house on a slight bend. Once you’ve passed this second house, start to slow downWolford Wood will soon appear on the left, around 1km along this road. Look out for a wooden gate and a pink house—that’s us!

At Wolford Wood, we believe the journey is part of the experience. Thanks to our partnership with Good Journey, we actively promote car-free access to our site. Here are the best ways to reach us without needing to drive:

Train + Bus

  • Moreton-in-Marsh station lies on the Cotswolds Line, with direct services from Oxford, Worcester, Hereford, and beyond.
  • From the station, catch the 801 bus toward Chipping Norton. Ask the driver to stop at The Four Shires Stone Farm (nearest stop to us).
  • Alternatively, book a seat on The Robin mini-bus service, or take a taxi for the final leg, we recommend pre-booking one of the following:

Cycle

  • E-Bike hire is available from Moreton-in-Marsh at All Cotswolds. Collect or have your bike delivered to us for free! All bike hires include: Helmets, locks, chargers, route maps and emergency contacts.
  • Alternatively, hire a range of bikes from TY Cylces, based in Chipping Norton. Bike delivery and collection for £20

Walk / Trails

  • Walking to Wolford Wood from Moreton-in-Marsh Train Station takes approximately 50mins. Please be aware that parts of the route do not have a path.
  • We recommend using apps like Komoot or AllTrails for route suggestions.

Choosing car-free options not only helps reduce emissions but allows you to slow down, soak in the landscape, and arrive refreshed.

Arriving by Car

If you’re driving to Wolford Wood, you’ll find us tucked just outside Moreton-in-Marsh, in the beautiful North Cotswolds countryside. Look out for familiar local landmarks as you approach — you may pass Redesdale Hall in the centre of Moreton-in-Marsh, the Fire Service College on the A44, and the historic Four Shire Stone, which marks the meeting point of four English counties. Wolford Wood is just a short distance beyond, with our entrance easy to spot once you slow down.

We have a spacious car park for up to 40 vehicles, proudly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. If you’re travelling in an electric vehicle, you can top up using our on-site trickle chargerpay for your session here before you plug in and unwind.

Once you’ve arrived, why not leave the car behind and explore the local area car-free? The Cotswolds is full of scenic walking and cycling routes, and with great local public transport connections, it’s easy to enjoy sustainable days out from Wolford Wood. Every car-free journey helps protect this beautiful landscape we all love.

  • Around 30 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon
  • 40 minutes to 1 hour from Oxford
  • 40 minutes to 1 hour from Cheltenham
  • 45 minutes to 1 hour from Cirencester

Once you arrive

Begin your adventure at the entrance gate (bottom of the map) — open it by hand and follow the winding track to the car park. From there, if you're staying with us, you can grab a wheelbarrow and head to the camping meadow or your cabin. You might like to visit Charlie and Bella, our friendly pigs, say hello to the geese or horses, enjoy the games field, or wander through the woodland trails waiting to be explored.
